Sometimes a number keeps texting your studio that you’d rather not hear from — a spam sender, a wrong number, or someone you’ve asked not to contact you. You can block a specific phone number so its texts stop reaching your inbox and your automations and blasts stop going to it. This article shows how to block a number from a conversation and how to manage your full blocklist in Settings.
What Blocking a Number Does
When you block a number, three things happen:
- Incoming texts are silently dropped. New messages from that number stop appearing in your inbox.
- Outbound automations and blasts are suppressed. Loyalsnap won’t text that number, even if it would normally qualify for an automation or blast.
- It applies to your studio only. The blocklist is studio-scoped — blocking a number at one studio doesn’t block it at your other locations.
Who Can Use This?
Anyone on your team who can use your Inbox and Settings can block a number and manage the blocklist.
How to Block a Number from a Conversation
The quickest way to block a number is straight from its conversation in the Inbox:
- Open your Inbox and find the conversation with the number you want to block.
- Click the more (three-dot) menu on that conversation.
- Select Block phone number.
- In the confirmation window, review the number and click Block number.
What success looks like: messages from that number stop arriving in your inbox, and your automations and blasts no longer send to it.
How to Manage Your Blocklist in Settings
To see everything you’ve blocked — or to block a number by hand — use the blocklist in Settings:
Go to Settings, open Messaging, and choose Blocked Numbers. The list shows each blocked number, who blocked it, and the date it was blocked.
Block a Number from the Settings page
- On the Blocked Numbers page, click Block a number.
- Enter the phone number you want to block.
- Click Block number.
Unblock a Number
- Find the number in your Blocked Numbers list.
- Click Unblock next to it.
- Confirm. Future messages from that number will be processed normally again.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: Does the person know I blocked them?
A: No. Blocking is silent — their texts are dropped before they reach you, and they aren’t notified. You simply stop receiving their messages and stop texting them through automations and blasts.
Q: I blocked a number by mistake — can I undo it?
A: Yes. Go to Settings > Messaging > Blocked Numbers, find the number, and click Unblock. Messages from that number will come through normally again.
Q: Does blocking a number at one studio block it everywhere?
A: No. The blocklist is specific to each studio. If you want a number blocked at more than one location, block it at each one.
Q: Will a blocked number still get my automations or blasts?
A: No. While a number is blocked, outbound automations and blasts to it are suppressed, so it won’t receive them.
Q: Where do messages from a blocked number go?
A: They’re dropped as soon as they come in — they don’t appear in your inbox or anywhere else in Loyalsnap. If you unblock the number, new messages from it will start showing up again.
