The last-contact filter lets an automation take into account when someone on your team last reached out to a client. Use it to avoid messaging a client who was just contacted, or to focus on clients based on their recent outreach — so your automations don't step on your team's personal touches.
Turn On the Last-Contact Filter
- Go to Automations and open the automation you want to adjust.
- Turn on Enable last-contact filter (Filter clients by when your team last reached out).
- Set the options that appear:
- Channel — which kind of outreach counts: Any, Call, Text, or Email.
- Time window — a number of hours, days, or weeks.
- Include or exclude — whether to reach only clients contacted within that window, or to skip clients contacted within it.
- Click Save.
What Counts as "Last Contact"
This looks at manual outreach from your team — the calls, texts, and emails your staff send — not automated messages. Pick the Channel to decide which kind counts (or leave it on Any to count all of them).
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: What's the difference between include and exclude?
A: With the filter set to include, the automation reaches only clients your team contacted within the time window. Set to exclude, it skips clients contacted within that window and reaches everyone else.
Q: Does this count automated messages as "contact"?
A: No — it looks at manual outreach from your team (calls, texts, emails), based on the channel you choose.
Q: Where is the filter?
A: It's in the automation editor, below the targeting fields. Turn on Enable last-contact filter to reveal the options.
