SMS Blasts let you text studio updates, promotions, and announcements to many clients at once. This article covers what they are, who can send them, what to know before you send, and how to stay compliant.
What Are SMS Blasts?
An SMS Blast is a text message you send to a group of clients at the same time — great for promotions, class or schedule updates, events, and win-back offers. Texts get opened and read quickly, so it's one of the fastest ways to reach your clients. You choose who receives a blast by setting recipient conditions, then send it now or schedule it for later.

Who Can Use This?
SMS Blasts are available to studios with text marketing enabled. Before you send, keep two things in mind:
- Clients must be opted in. Only clients who've opted in to marketing texts will receive a blast. See Opting-In Clients for SMS Blasts.
- You send from a dedicated marketing number. This is a different number than the one your automations and manual texts use (more on why below).
What to Know Before You Send
- Your marketing number is separate. SMS Blasts send from a dedicated marketing number, not your regular texting line. Marketing numbers can occasionally get flagged as spam by carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon), so keeping them separate protects the line you use for automations and one-to-one texts.
- Scheduling window. A scheduled blast can be set to send between 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM the studio's local time. Need to get a message out outside those hours (say, an urgent weather update)? Use Send Now to send manually at any time.
- Daily limit. You can send up to 5,000 segments per day across your blasts — distribute that however you like (one segment to 5,000 clients, 500 segments to 10, or split across several blasts).
- Cost. For US studios, SMS Blasts cost $0.01 per segment (160 characters), per recipient. Example: a 200-character message (2 segments) to 20 clients costs $0.40. You'll see an estimated cost before you send.
Staying Compliant
Compliance is the most important part of text marketing. Loyalsnap builds in safeguards, and these habits keep you on the right side of the rules:
- Get proper consent. Every recipient should have given you consent (written or implied) to receive studio updates and promotions by text.
- Always include opt-out instructions. Use the checkbox at the bottom of your blast to add opt-out language automatically. Loyalsnap honors opt-outs for you when a client replies STOP.
- Name your studio. So clients instantly recognize who's texting them — you can include this in the same opt-out line.
Managing Your Blasts
From your SMS Blasts list, open the actions menu (the split button on a blast's row) to reuse or manage a blast:
- Duplicate — make a copy of the blast in your current studio, a quick way to reuse a message you send often. To send a blast to other studios you manage, use Copy to other studios instead — see How to Copy a Blast to Another Studio.
- Archive / Unarchive — tidy your list by archiving a blast, then bring it back later with Unarchive.
- Unschedule — if a blast is scheduled but hasn't sent yet, the menu shows Unschedule (Archive isn't offered while a blast is scheduled). Unscheduling removes the send time but keeps the blast so you can reschedule or edit it.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: Why can't I schedule a blast before 8:00 AM or after 7:30 PM?
A: To keep marketing texts within reasonable hours, scheduling is limited to 8:00 AM–7:30 PM the studio's local time. If you truly need to send outside that window, use Send Now to send it manually.
Q: I sent a blast but not everyone received it. Why?
A: Only clients opted in to marketing texts receive blasts, and the estimated recipient count reflects opted-in clients only. Check your opt-in status — see Opting-In Clients for SMS Blasts. Clients who replied STOP are also excluded.
Q: How much will a blast cost?
A: For US studios it's $0.01 per segment (160 characters) per recipient. Longer messages and emojis use more segments, and larger lists cost more. You'll see an estimated cost before you send.
Q: Why is my SMS Blast number different from my regular texting number?
A: That's intentional. Marketing traffic is more likely to be flagged by carriers, so blasts use a separate marketing number to protect the line you rely on for automations and one-to-one texts.
Q: Can I send more than 5,000 segments in a day?
A: No — 5,000 segments per day is the limit across all your blasts. You can spread larger sends across multiple days.
