An SMS Blast lets you text many clients at once — a promotion, an event reminder, or a win-back offer. This article walks you through building and sending one, understanding the Blast Score, and finding your blast afterward.
Who Can Use This?
Sending SMS Blasts is available to team members whose account has permission to send SMS Blasts. If you don’t see the SMS Blasts option, ask an admin on your team or contact Loyalsnap Support.
How to Create an SMS Blast
- Go to the Blasts tab.
- Switch to SMS Blasts.
- Click Create SMS Blast.
- Name your blast and click Create.
- Set your recipient conditions to build your list (this works just like Email Blasts), then click Save.
- Write your message. You can use emojis and merge fields, and — if your studio has MMS enabled — attach one image using the image button. You’ll see the estimated cost on the right as you type.
As you write, you’ll also see a Blast Score — Good, Fair, or Poor — that rates your message based on its length (number of text segments) and how many emojis it uses. Shorter messages with fewer emojis score higher. The message box border changes color to match, and you can click the score to see what’s affecting it, including the cost per recipient.
If AI messaging is enabled for your studio, an Optimize with Loyalsnap Intelligence button can rewrite your message to raise the score — usually by trimming length and easing up on emojis, which also lowers the cost. You can apply the suggestion and undo it if you change your mind. For more, see How to Use the Blast Score to Lower SMS Costs and Improve Delivery.
Loyalsnap automatically adds opt-out instructions the first time a client receives an SMS Blast from your studio, and any links in your message are shortened automatically when the blast sends.
- Click Save.
- Click Send Now to send immediately, or Send Later to schedule. Scheduled blasts can be set between 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM the studio's local time — to send outside those hours, use Send Now.
Where Your Blast Appears After Sending
All SMS messages — including blasts — show in one thread per client in your Texting Inbox and on the Client Profile, so you see the full conversation in context. A green SMS Blast label appears next to any message sent as a blast, so you can tell blasts apart from your other texts.
After a blast sends, you can open it to view its recipient list — the same details as Email Blasts, plus each client’s phone number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the Blast Score?
A: It rates your message Good, Fair, or Poor based on its length (number of text segments) and how many emojis it uses — shorter messages with fewer emojis score higher. Click the score to see the details, including cost per recipient. For a full breakdown, see How to Use the Blast Score to Lower SMS Costs and Improve Delivery.
Q: What does “Optimize with Loyalsnap Intelligence” do?
A: It suggests a rewritten version of your message designed to raise your Blast Score — usually shorter, with fewer segments and emojis, which also lowers cost. You can use it or keep your original, and undo it after applying. It appears when AI messaging is enabled for your studio.
Q: Can I include an image in an SMS blast?
A: Yes, if your studio has MMS enabled. Use the image button in the message editor to attach one image (one per blast). Adding an image increases the cost — an image counts as roughly 2 segments. See Multimedia Messages (MMS).
Q: My recipient count is lower than I expected. Why?
A: Only clients opted in to marketing texts appear, and anyone who replied STOP is excluded. If the number looks off, opt in more clients or upload a consented list — see Opting-In Clients for SMS Blasts.
Q: Can I schedule a blast for any time of day?
A: Scheduling is limited to 8:00 AM–7:30 PM the studio's local time. To send outside that window, use Send Now to send it manually.
Q: How do I tell a blast apart from my other texts in the inbox?
A: Blast messages carry a green SMS Blast label in the client’s conversation thread.
Q: Can I see who received a blast after it sends?
A: Yes. Open the sent blast to see its recipient list, including phone numbers.
Q: How much will my blast cost?
A: You’ll see an estimated cost on the right as you build the message. For more detail, see See SMS Blast Costs Before You Send.
