Studio merge fields let you manage frequently used content — like your intro offer price, package details, and social links — in one place. Once you fill them in, they drop into your messages automatically, so you never send a template with a blank in it.
What are Studio Merge Fields?
A merge field is a reusable piece of studio information. You fill in its value once, and it fills in automatically anywhere a message uses that merge field — your Email Blast and Automation templates, Dashboard Scripts, the Client Details page, and the Texting Inbox.
Who can use this
Any studio user can view and complete the merge fields set up for their studio. Some groups are managed by Loyalsnap or apply only to franchise accounts (see the labels below).
Where to find your merge fields
Go to Settings and open Merge Fields (under the Messaging group). This is now its own section — it's no longer inside Studio Info.
How to complete your merge fields
- Go to Settings → Merge Fields.
- Look for groups marked missing — the banner at the top shows how many groups still need values.
- Click a group to expand it, then fill in each field.
- Click Save changes.
A group shows Complete once all of its fields have values. You only need a value for the fields you plan to use.
How to use merge fields in your messages
Template Editor
- In a text block, click the Merge Tags dropdown.
- Hover over My Studio Merge Fields.
- Select the group and the merge field you want. Fields without a value won't be selectable.
Rich text editor
- In the rich text editor on the Client Details page, Scripts editor, or Texting Inbox, type the @ symbol.
- Scroll to select the studio merge field. Fields without a value won't be selectable.
Troubleshooting unresolved merge fields
An "unresolved" merge field is one that's used in a template but doesn't have a value yet. Loyalsnap flags these so nothing goes out blank. You can fix them in place — no need to leave for the settings page.
On the Automations page
If a template linked to an automation has unresolved merge fields, you'll see an error under the template name.
Click Edit to open a modal where you can fill in the value without leaving the page — the needed field is highlighted green. Enter the value and click Save. Once every merge field is resolved, the error clears and you can enable the automation.
In the Template Editor
If a template has unresolved merge fields, you'll see an error in the editor.
Click Edit to open the same resolve modal, fill in the highlighted field, and click Save. Once all merge fields are resolved, the error clears.
In Email Blasts
When you create or edit an Email Blast and choose a template in the Content section, an unresolved merge field shows an error under the template name. Click Edit, fill in the value, and click Save. Once resolved, you can send your Email Blast.
Commonly available merge fields
The exact groups and fields depend on your studio's setup. Here are common merge fields and what they're for:
| Merge field | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram URL | The link to your studio's Instagram page | |
| Facebook URL | The link to your studio's Facebook page | |

| Survey URL | The link where clients can fill out your survey | |

| Price | The full price of a package or contract | Include your country's currency symbol. |
| Description | A brief description of the package or contract | |
| Purchase URL | The direct link to purchase the package or contract | |
| Expiration | How long the client has to use the package before it expires | e.g. "12 months from purchase," "6 months from first use" |
| Extension Length | Extra time to offer low-usage clients | Often offered on trials to encourage more usage |
| Bonus Visits | The number of visits that unlock a special offer | Written as "5" or "five" |

| Promo Code | The code a client uses to redeem an offer | Set to apply to a single pricing option, redeemable once per person (e.g. WELCOMEBACK) |
| Length | How long a recurring package or contract runs | e.g. "12 months" or "Month to month" |
| Offer Billing Period | How often a recurring payment is charged | e.g. "once a month" or "biweekly" |
Good to know
- Completed fields are available to every template and script, through the Merge Tags dropdown or the @ symbol.
- Automations can't be enabled, Email Blasts can't be sent, templates can't be saved, and messages can't be sent while they include an unresolved merge field.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Where do I fill in my merge fields?
A: Go to Settings → Merge Fields. Expand any group marked "missing," fill in the values, and click Save changes.
Q: Can I create my own merge fields?
A: The merge field groups available to you are configured for your studio. You fill in their values. If you need a new field or group, contact support.
Q: Why can't I select a merge field in a template?
A: A merge field only appears once it has a value. Add the value on the Merge Fields page, then it will be selectable.
Q: What do "X missing" and "Complete" mean?
A: "Missing" means that group still has empty fields; "Complete" means every field has a value. The banner at the top shows how many groups still need values.
Q: Can I remove a merge field value?
A: Once a value is set it can be edited, but not deleted.
