This article explains how autosave works in the templates editor so you never lose progress on an email you're building.
What is Autosave in the Templates Editor?
The templates editor now automatically saves a draft of your work while you're editing. If you navigate away, close the tab, or your session times out before you manually save, your work is preserved as a draft that you can return to.
Before this change, leaving the editor without saving meant losing everything you'd written. Autosave removes that risk entirely.
How Autosave Works
You don't need to do anything to enable autosave. While you're working in the Templates editor, your progress is saved automatically at regular intervals in the background.
- While editing: A small indicator will confirm your draft has been saved at the top right.
- If you leave mid-edit: Your draft is waiting for you when you return to the template.
- When you're done: Autosave drafts are published templates ready for your to use in Blasts or Automations.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: I came back to a template but my changes weren't there.
A: Autosave kicks in after a short interval. If you made a change and immediately closed the browser, it may not have saved yet. Going forward, wait for the "Saved" confirmation before navigating away.
Q: My live template looks different from what I was editing. Did autosave publish my draft?
A: Yes. Autosave updates when you manually make a change to a template. If you're editing a live template, it's best to duplicate that template first before making your changes.
Q: Can I discard my autosaved draft and start fresh?
A: Yes. Simply make a copy of the current template so that you can work from a fresh environment without disrupting any of your current automations.
